UNICARD designs and delivers offset and screen process or thermo transfer printed plastic cards. The selection of the printing method depends on the customer’s choice and the card delivery size. The personalization, i.e. imparting a card individual features, can be effected by a graphic overprint, embossing, infill print, magnetic and electronic encoding.
Graphic personalization - generally cards already e.g. offset-printed are personalized. Usually items like first and second name of a cardholder, card number, and card validity date are printed. The overprint can be monochromatic or multicoloured. For graphic personalization flat printing or infill printing or embossing is used. An overprinting of a code bar is an interesting form of a graphic personalization. Magnetic personalization - for automatic identification systems cards with an immersed magnetic strip can be used. With regard to the force of the entry strip cards can be divided into two classes: low coercivity LOCO (300 - 400 oersted ) magnetic strip cards and high coercivity HICO (2700 - 4000 oersted) magnetic strip cards. HICO cards are more resistant to demagnetisation. As a standard a magnetic strip contains three paths. Electronic personalization - can be effected in parallel with the graphic personalization during one run of card through a personalizing device. In such case first data are entered into an electronic system memory and next an overprint is applied onto a card. Due to such a solution it is not possible for the data saved in the memory to be different than those overprinted on a card. Prior to starting the electronic card personalization the electronic system type and the scope of data and an application to be saved in the electronic card memory must be defined. | ||
